Choosing a Used Fishing Boat
One of the great investments that will be made by any fisherman is the purchase
of a fishing boat. There is such wide selection of fishing boats out there that
it is easy to be overwhelmed. If you choose to buy a used fishing boat you will
need to make sure you do your research ahead of time as it will most likely not
come with a warranty.
Many fisherman will choose to buy a used all purpose fishing boat. These types
of boats can be made from fiberglass, wood, or aluminum and range in size from
fifteen to twenty feet long. The least expensive all purpose fishing boat will
be those made from aluminum. You can expect to pay around half the price of a
new fishing boat when you purchase it used. Fiberglass fishing boats are
probably the most popular these days, but also the most expensive. All of these
fishing boats will include storage space for your fishing gear and some type of
seating. Depending on their size they can seat between one and four people and
are usually trailerable.
Bass boats are designed for bass fishing and generally have larger outboard
motors than the all purpose fishing goat. Bass boats are usually equipped with
lots of electronic devices to make finding and catching fish easier. Bass boats
usually will have raised casting platforms and are between sixteen and twenty
five feet long. Bass boats are most often made from fiberglass, but can also be
made from aluminum. They typically can comfortably seat four people and fit on a
trailer.
Center console fishing boats enable you to fish from almost any part of the
deck. The design of these boats also allows for easy netting of fish. These
types of boats are usually larger than either all purpose or bass fishing boats
and feature much larger engines. Some center console fishing boats will even
have cabins and heads.
